**SPECIAL ALERT**
SUPPORT MEASURE A! 
 
75 of our 580 teachers will be cut from our great local schools in Santa Monica and Malibu – unless we pass Measure A!


At John Muir, this means we may lose 5 exceptional teachers - Mr. Carter (3rd  grade), Ms. Hanson (3rd grade), Ms. Lui (2nd grade), Ms. Hoefferle (1st  grade), and Ms. Vallejo (1st grade) - unless we pass Measure A!

This news comes as a blow not just to these teachers, but to the children and parents they have touched as well.   

Please help us prevent devastating teacher layoffs and protect our local schools by volunteering to phone bank for MEASURE A.

Come join a Muir Phone Banking Night in support of Measure A!

Measure A will provide local funding for our schools that the State cannot take away. Measure A will:
-  Protect instruction in reading, writing, math and science
-  Minimize teacher layoffs
-  Keep class sizes as small as possible
-  Help protect music and art programs
-  Keep school libraries open
-  Keep counselors, who help students stay on track and prepare for college and careers
 
Measure A is a Special “all-mail” election – your ballot will come in the mail in early May, even if you normally vote at the polls.

We can’t pass Measure A without your help! 
 
The phoning is easy and fun: you’ll join other concerned local school supporters. We’ll train you, give you a script, and you won’t be asked to convince anyone or answer any difficult questions. We’ll even feed you! 

MUIR’S  DESIGNATED PHONE BANKING NIGHTS  ARE MARCH 18 (Thurs.), April 12 (Mon.) AND April 22  (Thurs.)  If you can’t come on these nights, please come on ANY night Sunday – Thursday.  

Please commit to one or more nights so we fill up  the phone lines!

Phone banking is held in the SMMCTA Headquarters (Teachers' Association) at 1508 18th Street, Santa Monica, 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Please commit to 2 hours or more.
